His work spans a wide range of genres, from retrospective historical stories using drama and archive to in-the-moment unfolding narratives.
Recent projects showcase his versatility as a filmmaker, including the dramatized stories of Jack the Ripper and the European Royals of the early 1900s for Sky History, as well as the archive-led series Inside the FBI: The 70s for Disney+ and Nat Geo. Additionally, he directed the haunting BBC drama-doc Belsen: Our Story, which received multiple award nominations and five-star reviews from prominent publications such as The Guardian, Times, and Telegraph.
Prior to his current work, Tom was a senior member of the award-winning creative team at Atlantic Productions from 2016 to 2020. Early in his career, Tom enjoyed significant success with the BBC, working on a range of projects including Restoration with Griff Rhys Jones, Tutankhamun: The Truth Uncovered with Dallas Campbell, Masters of the Pacific Coast with Dr. Jago Cooper, and Galapagos with Liz Bonnin. He also series directed the four-part climate change series Man on Earth with Tony Robinson for Channel 4 and directed Buried Alive: The Chilean Mine Rescue for Channel 4 and PBS, as well as Hurricane Katrina: The Storm That Drowned a City for Channel 5 and PBS.
