Biography

Antônio Venturi Neto, more commonly referred to as Toni Venturi, was a renowned Brazilian film director who left an indelible mark on the cinematic world. He commenced his educational journey by graduating with a degree in photographic arts from the prestigious University of Ryerson in Canada. Subsequently, he went on to earn a degree in cinema from the esteemed University of São Paulo (USP). Toni Venturi's impressive professional trajectory was marked by his tenure as president of the São Paulo Filmmakers Association (Apaci) in the year 2001. As a filmmaker, he was responsible for directing a plethora of notable projects, including the fiction features "Latitude Zero" in 2002, "Cabra-Cega" in 2005, "Estamos Juntos" in 2011, and "A Comédia Divina" in 2017. In addition to his work in fiction films, Toni Venturi also made significant contributions to the realm of documentaries, having directed "O Velho – A História de Luiz Carlos Prestes" and "Rita Cadillac – A Lady do Povo". Sadly, Toni Venturi passed away in 2024 at the age of 68, leaving behind a legacy that continues to inspire and influence generations of filmmakers to come.
