Biography

Tony was born in the vibrant city of Sydney, Australia, and his journey to becoming a renowned actor began in his early twenties. He soon transitioned to stage direction, taking his talents to the stages of Australia and New Zealand, entertaining audiences with his unique blend of charisma and skill.

As his career progressed, Tony made the move to television, initially working as a producer and director before transitioning to a newsreader and current affairs host. His passion for acting never wavered, and in 1966, he landed the role of a lifetime as a former army commando and top government spy in the title character of Hunter (1967).

This action-packed drama became one of the first Australian TV series to be sold in the United States, airing on an independent station in New York. Tony's portrayal of the character earned him a spot in 57 high-rating episodes, before he left the program near its conclusion in late 1968.

The following year, Tony appeared in the US co-produced film Color Me Dead (1969),alongside fellow tall actors Tom Tryon and Rick Jason. He also made guest appearances in several TV series, including Riptide (1969),starring Ty Hardin, and Boney (1972) and Skippy (1968),both produced by John McCallum.

In the 1970s, Tony returned to his journalism roots, serving as a senior reporter on the top-rating A Current Affair (1971) for approximately eight years. This period was marked by significant turmoil in Australian politics, and Tony was at the forefront of it all.

The 1980s saw Tony return to acting, albeit occasionally, and in the early 1990s, he appeared as a TV commentator discussing contemporary programs. However, Tony's true passion lay in the world of art, and he went on to have a successful career as a respected art dealer, specializing in antique prints of early Australian settlement.

Tony's life was marked by his dedication to his craft, and he left behind a lasting legacy. He passed away in 2006, leaving behind one daughter, a testament to his enduring love and commitment to his family.
