Tracey Bonner is a renowned American actor, recognized for her captivating performances in popular shows such as Raising Dion, Sweet Magnolias, and Black Lightning.
Born in Decatur, Georgia, to two educators, Tracey was the only biological child in her family. She grew up in Murfreesboro, Tennessee, where she developed a strong foundation in both sports and academics.
As a high school student, Tracey discovered her passion for Shakespeare and was subsequently cast in a theatre tour. This experience sparked a realization that acting could be a viable profession, leading her to pursue extensive training and numerous theatre performances across the United States.
Throughout her high school years, Tracey excelled in sports, serving as a varsity basketball and softball player. Her athletic prowess earned her a full scholarship to Tennessee State University, where she became an athletic/academic All-American softball player.
At Tennessee State University, Tracey majored in Speech Communication and Theatre with an English minor. Later, she obtained an MFA in Acting from the Theatre School at DePaul University.
Before transitioning to a full-time acting career, Tracey spent 15 years teaching. She then decided to focus on her acting career, leveraging her experience and skills to secure roles in various projects.
Outside of acting, Tracey is dedicated to helping others. She founded DateYourselfGirl, Inc., a non-profit organization that empowers women to become the love they seek through healing conversations and philanthropy.
The organization's annual Diaper Drive for homeless mothers and their babies provides relief in the form of diapers, pull-up, and wipes to deserving mothers. Additionally, Tracey owns "Get Booked Taping Service," which assists other actors with auditions and offers her "Master the Art of Self Tape" workshop for universities and theatre companies.
Through her work and outreach, Tracey aims to inspire fellow actors to continue discovering their purpose in their craft and beyond. She believes that actors' gifts are tools that can be used for good and to positively impact many lives.
