Tracy Griffith's acting career began with a role in the slasher film Sleepaway Camp III: Teenage Wasteland in 1989. She then landed a part on the daytime soap Guiding Light, a long-running program that started in 1952.
Her first feature film was The Good Mother, released in 1988, where she starred alongside Diane Keaton and Liam Neeson. The film was directed by Leonard Nimoy. Following her success in this film, Griffith moved to Los Angeles and soon secured a starring role in the feature film The First Power opposite Lou Diamond Phillips.

She played the girlfriend of Johnny Depp on 21 Jump Street in 1987, and co-starred with Lindsay Wagner on the Lifetime drama Their Second Chance in 1997. She also appeared in the mini-series The Siege at Ruby Ridge, playing the sister of Laura Dern.
Tracy Griffith was a series regular on the ABC drama The Monroes, where she played Kelly Monroe, the renegade daughter of William Devane. Her other television credits include the CBS movies Circle of Deceit and Murder in the Mirror, as well as a guest appearance on the TNT drama Bull.
Tracy Griffith has also pursued her passion for cooking and has worked as a sushi-chef at the trend-setting Beverly Hills restaurant, Tsunami's. She was the "mystery guest" on the game show To Tell the Truth, where she fooled the contestants about her profession.

She has performed at several benefits to raise money and awareness for her favorite causes, including animal rights and endangered animal preservation.
