Trent McMullen was born in Wiarton, Ontario, and spent his childhood traversing various locations throughout Kitchener-Waterloo, Sauble Beach, and Honey Harbour. His journey in acting commenced during his high school years after being dared to audition for and subsequently landing a lead role in the school's production of 'Grease - The Musical'.
Following high school, Trent's professional endeavors included a successful 'Pepsi' campaign directed by Phillip Borsos, which led to him securing bit parts in the Hollywood features, "Tommy Boy" and "PCU". He then ventured into television, landing roles in "The Wall", "The Rescuers", "La Femme Nikita", "WitchBlade", and for two seasons on the hit A&E Series "Nero Wolfe", where he portrayed the character 'Orrie Cather'.
Trent's success in "Nero Wolfe" propelled him into starring roles in the independent films "Last Night", directed by Don McKellar, and "It All Happens Incredibly Fast", directed by Jai Dixit. He also appeared in "Little Blood Brother", a film based on the play and directed by the playwright, Vittorio Rossi. Trent then landed the role of 'Sands', the prison warden, in the intense and critically acclaimed "Dog Pound", directed by Kim Chapiron.
Trent's subsequent projects included the ensemble feature "Small Town Murder Songs", starring Peter Stormare, Jill Hennesey, Aaron Poole, Ari Cohen, and Martha Plimpton, directed by Ed Gass-Donnelly, who was named by Variety as one of the top ten directors to watch in 2011.
Trent's distinctive voice has earned him a reputation as one of the elite voice artists in North America. He has been the voice of Animal Planet, Canada, and Investigation ID, Canada, and has narrated numerous documentaries for Discovery Channel and National Geographic. Trent has also voiced hundreds of television and radio ads for various products, including cars, sports, beer, and liquor, as well as movie trailers for Warner Bros. and Universal Pictures.
Trent currently resides in Toronto but is willing to work anywhere.
