Biography

Trudi Goodman is a multifaceted artist, boasting a diverse range of talents that span across the realms of singing, acting, music, writing, directing, and producing. Her vocal repertoire encompasses a variety of languages, including Yiddish, Hebrew, Ladino, German, Spanish, French, and Italian, showcasing her linguistic versatility.

Born in Boston, Massachusetts in 1954, Trudi's Jewish heritage is deeply rooted in her family's history. Her great-grandfather, Herman, was a renowned composer of Jewish Liturgical music, who also crafted handmade pianos and organs. Her grandmother, Elke, was an opera singer who made her debut at the prestigious Metropolitan Opera in New York City. Moreover, her great-uncle, Nathan, is credited with coining the name Paramount for Paramount Pictures.

Trudi's family tree is replete with talented individuals, including her uncle, Yankel, who entertained as a Vaudeville performer with The Harmonicats. Her father, Arthur, was a decorated World War 2 veteran, while her maternal grandfather, Moshe, was a respected Cantor. Trudi herself is a skilled guitarist and recorder player, having performed in numerous one-woman shows, including "The Sunny Side of the Street: Scenes from Real and Unreal Life," which she wrote and produced, as well as "Die Maase Bukh: The Jewish Experience in Poetry and Song," which she compiled, created, translated, directed, and produced.

As a working artist, Trudi primarily focuses on film and stage acting, as well as singing and music. In the past, she traveled extensively throughout the New England area as a folk musician. Furthermore, she is a published poet and has served as co-editor for the poetry and prose publication, "Zone: A Feminist Journal for Women and Men."
