Ty was born in Southampton, United Kingdom, and spent her formative years in Highcliffe-On-Sea, a picturesque coastal town in Dorset, England. As the middle child of three, she was raised by her parents, Cathy, a dedicated nurse, and Peter, a talented photographer. From a young age, Ty demonstrated a profound appreciation for music and dance, which would eventually become integral to her artistic pursuits.
At the tender age of 16, Ty enrolled at The Northern Ballet School in Manchester, where she honed her skills and cultivated her passion for the performing arts. It was during her time at NBS that she caught the attention of Australian director and screenwriter John Duigan, who was impressed by her talent and offered her a role in his upcoming feature film. Following her graduation, Ty made the bold decision to relocate to London, where she signed with her acting agent and embarked on a successful career in the entertainment industry.
Ty's impressive repertoire includes her theatrical debut in David Hare's 'The Blue Room', as well as starring roles in 'Tis Pity She's a Whore' at The West Yorkshire Playhouse and as the title character in 'Yerma' at The Hull Truck and Notting Hill Gate Theatres. Beyond her accomplishments in the entertainment industry, Ty is also a dedicated ambassador for the UK-based charity Mencap, utilizing her platform to raise awareness and support for important social causes.
