Ty Granderson Jones is a renowned actor, filmmaker, and acting coach of Creole and Cuban heritage. As a protégé of the legendary theatre director Alan Schneider and a student of the iconic acting teacher Lee Strasberg, he has honed his craft through rigorous training and mentorship.
Jones holds a Bachelor of Science in Theatre from Florida A&M University (FAMU) and Florida State University (FSU) as a co-op student, and a Master of Fine Arts in Acting from the University of California, San Diego (UCSD),where he studied under the guidance of esteemed mentors Michael Addison and Arthur Wagner.
Throughout his career, Jones has appeared in a wide range of film and television projects, including co-starring roles in the action film "Con Air," the hip-hop cult classic "CB4," Oliver Stone's Oscar-nominated "Salvador," and the urban cult classic indie film "Tapped Out," produced by Madonna's Maverick Entertainment and featuring a silent producing credit from Prince.
His notable television credits include recurring roles on the critically acclaimed series "ER" on NBC and the Golden Globe-nominated "Everybody Hates Chris." On stage, Jones has performed in over 80 plays, earning him an ADA Award nomination for Best Actor for his role in the award-winning play "Rounds."
Jones is also an accomplished acting coach and has conducted workshops and classes around the world, including a Master Acting for Film class in Beijing, China, and an Acting for Camera/Scene Study class at the New York Film Academy. He has coached pupils who have gone on to become stars, including Whitney Houston and Tupac.
As a published poet, Jones has performed his original works, featuring John Densmore of "The Doors" on drums. He is also the founder of Creole Celina Entertainment, a production company that has produced several award-winning films, including "Diamond," which is now streaming on Amazon Prime.
