Tyler Slater Jensen was born in Orono, Minnesota, to Curt, a software engineer, and Julie, an elementary school teacher. He has two younger brothers, Christopher and Michael. Growing up, Tyler spent a significant amount of time participating in outdoor activities at his family's lake home cabin, often engaging in activities such as baseball, hunting, fishing, and boating. At the age of 13, Tyler's life took a drastic turn when his father was diagnosed with cancer. Unfortunately, his father passed away shortly after, leaving Tyler's mother to raise her three young sons alone.
As the eldest son, Tyler quickly matured and took on the responsibility of being the man of the house to help his mother and siblings. He attended West Tonka High School in Mound, Minnesota, where he excelled in Varsity Baseball and became All-State his senior year. After high school, Tyler enrolled at Concordia College in Moorhead, Minnesota, to play baseball and worked as a landscaper on Lake Minnetonka during the summer.
During his junior year, a friend encouraged Tyler to get some photos taken for a modeling agency. His unique appearance, derived from his Icelandic and Scandinavian ancestry, caught the attention of the fashion world. His modeling career took off, with him working with several fashion companies, including Abercrombie & Fitch, Guess, and Calvin Klein. He became the premier male model for Guess and the face of Calvin Klein. Tyler lived in Spain, New York, and Miami for five years, in addition to traveling extensively worldwide.
Tyler eventually transitioned into an acting career, landing his first role in the independent film Spun, starring Jason Schwartzman, Brittany Murphy, and Mickey Rourke. In 2004, he was cast as Bucky Helberg in FOX's sitcom "Quintuplets" starring Andy Richter. His breakthrough film was "Finding Rin-Tin-Tin," where he starred as 'Corporeal Lee Duncan' alongside award-winning actor Ben Cross. The film revisits the legendary story about the famous dog found by Duncan during World War I.
Today, Tyler resides in Los Angeles, where he continues to pursue his passion for acting and modeling.
