Ulf Pilgaard, a Danish actor with a career spanning over four decades, has made a significant impact in the world of comedy plays. His impressive filmography includes notable roles in "Nattenvagten" by Ole Bornedal.
Pilgaard began his acting career in 1963 at "Alléscenen" as a member of the Collage-squad. He then went on to join "Cirkusrevyen" from 1968 to 1972, followed by "Tivolirevyen" from 1973 to 1985, with intermittent appearances in "Holstebrorevyen" from 1978 to 1979.
From 1986, Pilgaard has been a part of "Cirkusrevyen" once again. Throughout the 20-year period from 1968 to 1988, he also starred in DR (Danish Radio) programs of satire, including "Hey-Hey" and "Wow Wow".
Pilgaard has formed a lasting on-screen and stage partnership with Claus Ryskjær.
He is renowned for his parodies of famous Danish figures, including Kirsten Hüttemeyer, Hanne Bech Hansen, Poul Nyrup Rasmussen, and Queen Margrethe.
Pilgaard has received numerous awards, including the Bodil and Robert awards for Best Actor in Farligt Venskab (1996). He was also awarded the revue prize "Dirch of the Year" in 2006 and was nominated again in 2010.
Born into a priestly family, Pilgaard attended school in Frederiksberg, where he befriended Ole Michelsen, a future reputable film critic.
After high school, Pilgaard studied to become a priest and was a classmate of Henrik Stangerup and John Mill Gardens at Elers' College from April 15, 1962, to May 15, 1967. However, his friends Preben Kaas and Henrik Stangerup influenced him to drop out of theological studies and pursue a full-time acting career.
Pilgaard has two children with his partner, Gitte Pilgaard.
