Unni Menon is a renowned Indian film playback singer who has made a significant impact in the South Indian music industry. With a vast repertoire of over 3000 songs, he has sung in various languages including Malayalam, Tamil, Telugu, and Kannada.
Initially, Menon's career was marked by a low-profile existence as a playback singer, but his fortunes took a dramatic turn when he sang the iconic song "Pudhu Vellai Mazhai" for Mani Ratnam's critically acclaimed 1992 Tamil film Roja, composed by the maestro A. R. Rahman.
This pivotal moment in his career marked the beginning of a long-standing association with A. R. Rahman, as he went on to lend his voice to nearly 25 popular songs in films such as Karuththamma (1994) and Minsaara Kanavu (1997).
