Biography

Valeria Alonso is a multidisciplinary artist born in Buenos Aires, Argentina, who began her artistic journey at the tender age of 12 through acting, dancing, writing, and directing. Her early training laid the foundation for a diverse range of creative pursuits, which she would later combine in innovative ways.

As an actress, Valeria has worked with renowned directors such as Alberto Rodriguez, Jonás Trueba, Javier Rebollo, Matteo Minetto, Félix Viscarret, Nicanor Loreti, Lucas Figueroa, and Nerea Castro, among others. Her extensive experience in film and television includes collaborations with companies like Television Española, Cuatro, Telefe, Paramount Comedy, RAI, and many others.

In addition to her work as an actress, Valeria has also worked with companies like De la Guarda and La Fura dels Baus, participating in various shows and projects. She has also collaborated with different directors, companies, and projects, showcasing her versatility and adaptability as an artist.

At the age of 20, Valeria directed her first project, "The Egg" (El huevo),a six-month experimental work that brought together a group of 10 artists to create a unique theater space in Buenos Aires. This early success set the stage for her future endeavors.

In 2002, Valeria moved to Paris, where she deepened her exploration of the intersection of theater, dance, and video. Two years later, she established her company, La Cabra, with the aim of creating scenic and visual projects that address social issues and offer alternative perspectives on the world.

Throughout her career, Valeria has received numerous awards and accolades, including the First Prize in the XX Choreographic Competition of Madrid for her dance-video piece "Osario" in 2006. She has also been awarded the Paris Young Talents 2003 prize, an honorary prize for play-writing by the National Fund of the Arts of Buenos Aires, and a scholarship from the Government of Switzerland in 2013 for the creation of the dance video "Viento Mucho Viento".

Valeria has created and directed 10 shows, performances, and videos, and has worked in countries such as Spain, France, Belgium, the USA, England, Switzerland, Italy, Argentina, Japan, and China. Her extensive body of work showcases her unique blend of creativity, innovation, and artistic expression.

In addition to her work as a director and actress, Valeria has also made short films, including the 40-minute film "La Queja", which premiered at the XIV Latin American Film Festival of Toulouse, France, and was later screened at the Festival Sueños Cortos in Buenos Aires and the FIAES in Argentina.
