Varun Grover was born on January 26th, 1980, in Sundernagar, a picturesque town in the state of Himachal Pradesh, India. His mother, a dedicated school teacher, and his father, an army engineer, played a significant role in shaping his early years. Varun spent his initial years in Sundernagar and Dehradun, a city then located in the state of Uttar Pradesh, before moving to the state capital, Lucknow, for his adolescent years.
This formative period in Lucknow had a profound impact on Varun's life, as it was during this time that he formed lasting friendships that would influence his decisions and shape his future. His academic pursuits led him to graduate in Civil Engineering from the prestigious Indian Institute of Technology - Banaras Hindu University (IIT-BHU) in Varanasi in 2003.
Following his graduation, Varun worked as a software consultant in an MNC in Pune, but his passion for writing soon took over, and he made the bold decision to relocate to Mumbai in 2004 to pursue his dream of becoming a full-time writer. His perseverance paid off when he landed a job as a staff writer on the highly acclaimed 'The Great Indian Comedy Show' in 2005, which marked a significant turning point in his career.
Varun's experience on the show not only honed his skills as a writer but also discovered his flair for stand-up comedy writing, giving him the confidence to take the stage as a stand-up comedian a few years later. Today, he is one of the 30-odd stand-up comedians in India, in addition to being a renowned lyrics writer and screenplay writer for the Hindi film industry.
