Varun Saranga was born and raised in the city of Scarborough, located in the province of Ontario, Canada. His journey in the world of acting began during his high school years, where he discovered his passion for filmmaking, directing, and starring in various student films. This early exposure to the craft of acting sparked his interest and motivation to pursue a career in the industry.
At the age of 18, Varun attended an open call and landed his first major role as AJ Mehta, a geeky but lovable character, on the popular YTV show "How to Be Indie". This breakthrough role served as a catalyst for him to take his acting career seriously and professionally.
Following this initial success, Varun went on to secure numerous roles in various television shows and series. Some of his notable appearances include "Schitt's Creek" on CBC, "Workin' Moms" and "Strays", "Nurses" on CTV, "Endlings" on Hulu, and regular roles on "Burden of Truth", "Carter", and "Wynonna Earp", which won a People's Choice Award.
In the upcoming year, Varun will appear in the film "Daniel's Got to Die" alongside the late Bob Saget, and in the series "SurrealEstate" on SyFy, as well as the final season of the HBO Max series "Sort Of", starring Bilal Baig.
In addition to his acting career, Varun has also pursued academic endeavors. He completed the prestigious CBC Actors Conservatory program at the Canadian Film Centre in Toronto, and holds a degree in Political Science from York University. Currently, he is pursuing his Master's degree in Counselling Psychology at Yorkville University.
