Biography

Victor Mignatti is a renowned director known for his feel-good commercials, comedic spots, feature films, and music videos, as well as documentaries that showcase his unique cinema-verite style and intimate, compelling interviews and testimonials. With a solid background in post-production as an editor, Mignatti brings a diverse range of skills to his work, having edited in various genres.

In the realm of comedy, Mignatti's direction of R. Kelly's "Trapped In The Closet 13-22" earned him a Grammy Award nomination. This outrageous music video, dubbed a "hip-hopera," was met with widespread acclaim, with the New York Times describing it as "extraordinarily entertaining." The video went on to become the Billboard #1 Platinum music video DVD for five consecutive weeks.

Mignatti's work in feature films includes the Outfest audience award-winning romantic comedy "Broadway Damage," which critic Rex Reed praised as "One of the best American Independent films in years." His 2012 release, the feature documentary "This Time," is a music-driven portrait of six recording artists, including Elvis Presley's backup singers, The Sweet Inspirations.

His work has also been recognized with a People's Choice Award nomination for MTV's "The Real World New Orleans."

Mignatti's films are part of the permanent collections of the UCLA Film and Television Archive, The Paley Center for Media, and the Museum of the City of New York. He holds a degree in film from New York University and has also studied acting at Circle in the Square.
