Víctor Valdés Arribas, a renowned Spanish professional footballer, was born on January 14, 1982. After retiring from the sport, he took on the role of manager for the youth setup at ED Moratalaz.
Throughout his illustrious career, Valdés spent most of his time playing as a goalkeeper for Barcelona in La Liga. He is widely regarded as one of the greatest goalkeepers in the club's history, having played in an astonishing 535 official games and winning an impressive 21 major titles. These accolades include six La Liga titles and three UEFA Champions League championships, solidifying his status as a football legend.
Valdés also holds the record for the most appearances in the league and in official competition, surpassing Andoni Zubizarreta's records during the 2011-12 season. After his contract with Barcelona came to an end in July 2014, he joined Manchester United in January 2015. Although he played sparingly for the team, he did make a brief loan appearance at Standard Liège before moving on to Middlesbrough. Following his release from Middlesbrough at the end of the 2016-17 season, Valdés announced his retirement from professional football.
On the international stage, Valdés made his full debut in 2010 and earned a total of 20 caps. He was a key member of the Spanish squads that won the 2010 FIFA World Cup and UEFA Euro 2012, as well as the 2013 FIFA Confederations Cup, where Spain finished in second place.
