Vlado Černý was born on June 21, 1951, in Bratislava, where he spent his childhood with his grandmother and grandfather, as his parents resided primarily in Prague. His parents, both athletes, with his father being a pentathlete and his mother a swimmer, instilled in him a passion for sports, which led him to participate in modern pentathlon and even compete in two world championships.
However, his early life was also marked by his grandmother's amateur recitation and his grandfather's influence, which led him to develop an interest in acting. This interest was further fueled by his experience working with the television editorial staff, which cast him in the short film Havko. A chance meeting with director Paľo Bielik, whom he had accidentally broken a window for as a young boy, led to an audition for the film Jánošík (1962),where he landed the role of little Jurek Jánošík.
Throughout his early years, Černý continued to balance his acting career with his passion for sports, participating in film and television productions while also competing in modern pentathlon. However, it was his experience working with director Paľo Bielik that ultimately led him to make the decision to pursue a career in acting, despite being fired from the Academy of Performing Arts in his first year due to his involvement in a banned film.
Černý's journey was marked by several setbacks, including being rejected by Professor Karol Legéň Zachar, who he later approached for re-interviews and successfully completed his studies in 1976. He went on to work with various theaters, including the Poetic Stage, Revue Bratislava, and Nová scéna, before becoming the director of Astorka Korzo '90 Theater in 1995, where he has remained ever since.
Throughout his career, Černý has portrayed a wide range of characters, showcasing his versatility as an actor.
