Walter Koenig began his acting career in 1962 as an uncredited Sentry in the TV series Combat!. He went on to have bit roles in several television shows until he landed the role of Ensign Pavel Chekov in Star Trek's Original Series. He reprises this role in all 7 original Star Trek movies, as well as in several video games and TV series, rising in rank to Lieutenant, Commander, Captain, and Admiral.
He also had a recurring role as the scoundrel Bester on the television series Babylon 5 and its spin-off series Crusade. Koenig has also had leading roles in the video feature Moontrap and the interactive video game Maximum Surge.
In addition to his acting work, Koenig has written for several television series, including The Powers of Matthew Star, What Really Happened to the Class of '65?, Family, Land of the Lost, and the animated Star Trek: The Animated Series. He has also published several books, including his autobiography "Warped Factors - A Neurotic's Guide to the Universe" and the satiric fantasy novel "Buck Alice and the Actor-Robot".
Koenig has taught classes in acting and directing privately at UCLA, The Sherwood Oaks Experimental Film College, and the California School of Professional Psychology. He has also been an instructor at the Actor's Alley Repertory Company in Los Angeles, California.
In between filming the 4th and 5th Star Trek films, Koenig took his first leading role in the video feature Moontrap. He has also worked in low-budget feature films, including Drawing Down the Moon and Sworn to Justice.
Koenig has performed in numerous stage productions, including "A Midsummer Night's Dream", "Six Characters in Search of an Author", "Make a Million", and "The Boys in Autumn". He has also directed several stage productions, including "Hotel Paradiso", "Beckett", and "Twelve Angry Men".
As an instructor, Koenig has taught classes in acting and directing privately at UCLA, The Sherwood Oaks Experimental Film College, and the California School of Professional Psychology.
