Ward Smith is a multifaceted artist, serving as the co-founder and Artistic Director of The Off-Central Players. This actor, director, producer, and comedian is driven by a passion for storytelling, with a focus on exploring the complexities of the human condition.
Early Life and Education:
Ward's theatre journey began in high school, thanks to the guidance of his inspiring professor Vince Petti, who instilled in him the value of hard work and dedication. He later joined the US Army, where he performed stand-up and live theatre productions throughout Europe in 1982. After his honorable discharge in 1984, Ward furthered his theatre studies in Germany.
Career:
Ward's creative pursuits continued as he honed his craft as an MC, opening for famous comedians such as Steven Wright, Paula Poundstone, Richard Lewis, Bill Hicks, and JJ Walker. He has appeared in over 50 professional stage productions, taking on roles that resonate with him, including Rothko in RED, Scott in AMERICAN SON, Stephano in THE TEMPEST, Salter in A NUMBER, and most recently as Roy in James McLure's LOAN STAR.
Television and Film:
As a member of SAGAFTRA, Ward has made appearances on television in streaming episodes of ZOO, NASHVILLE, LET'S STAY TOGETHER, BURN NOTICE, ARMY WIVES, MACGYVER, and THE RIGHT STUFF.
