Wendy Shear, the daughter of renowned director/producer Barry Shear and actress Sondra Roe Shear, was born in Brooklyn, New York, but her life took a significant turn when she was just six years old, as her family relocated to Beverly Hills, California.
Growing up, Shear spent most of her free time following her father and learning the ins and outs of the film industry firsthand on numerous productions. This hands-on experience would later serve as a valuable foundation for her future endeavors.
After graduating from Hollywood High School, Shear dove headfirst into the entertainment industry, working for KLAC/KMET radio and subsequently transitioning into the music business. It was during this time that she met her first husband, a road manager for the iconic rock band The Who, and the couple relocated to London for five years. During their time in London, Shear worked for Universal Television.
However, her marriage eventually came to an end, and Shear returned to California, where she began to forge a career in television and film. She worked as an assistant director on a number of notable shows, including "Dynasty," "Wings," "Sisters," and Clint Eastwood's classic film "Every Which Way But Loose."
Shear also gained experience in second-unit direction and stunt coordination on several shows, including the popular series "Dukes of Hazard."
In her personal life, Shear went on to marry a Belgian Baron, but after a decade-long marriage, the couple parted ways.
In 2005, Shear felt the need for a fresh start and relocated to New York City. This new chapter in her life has allowed her to leverage her extensive experience and produce several independent films, as well as direct her first feature film, "The Camera's Eye."
