Whitney Able's acting career began with a role in the low-budget film Age of Kali in 2005, marking the start of her journey in the entertainment industry. In 2006, she took on the character of Eve in the film Dead Lenny, which was released direct-to-DVD, further solidifying her presence in the film world.
Able's early success led to her being cast in the pilot episode of the TV show Secrets of a Small Town, although unfortunately, the show was not picked up by the American Broadcasting Company (ABC). However, she did manage to secure a guest role in the show Rodney, which was picked up by ABC.
Her breakout role came in the 2006 horror film All the Boys Love Mandy Lane, where she portrayed the complex and multifaceted character of Chloe, a cheerleader who is both bitchy and sympathetic. The film, which co-starred Amber Heard, showcased Able's impressive range as an actress.
Following her success in All the Boys Love Mandy Lane, Able went on to appear in a number of films, including Emmanuelle Vaugier's horror vehicle Unearthed, in which she played the role of Ally. The film was part of the 8 Films to Die For at Horrorfest, and Able also starred alongside Tom Arnold and Kevin Nealon in the film Love and Mary and Remarkable Power.
After a string of independent film roles, Able was suggested for the lead role of Samantha in Gareth Edwards' film Monsters in 2010. She won the role alongside co-star Scoot McNairy, and the film received widespread critical acclaim.
In 2010, Able married her co-star Scoot McNairy, and the couple has since appeared in a number of films together. Some of their notable projects include Straight A's (2013) with Luke Wilson and Anna Paquin, and A Walk Among the Tombstones (2014) with Liam Neeson.
Most recently, Able starred in the Joe Dante-produced thriller DARK (2015),for which she received an Outstanding Performance by a Leading Actress Nomination at the Oldenburg International Film Festival in Germany.
