William McGregor, a talented writer and director, hails from rural Norfolk, England, where he has a strong affinity for using landscape and character-focused storytelling to weave captivating narratives.
In 2007, William embarked on a creative journey by attending the University for Creative Arts in Farnham, England, where he pursued a Foundation Degree in Art and Design, followed by a BA in Digital Film and Screen Arts.
William's first-year student film, "Who's Afraid of the Water Sprite?" (2009),garnered an impressive 10 international awards, including the prestigious "Royal Television Award for Best Drama." The film's success was so remarkable that the Cambridge University Film Festival was subsequently renamed "The Water Sprite Film Festival" in its honor. The Royal Television Society proclaimed the short as "The best student film we have ever seen."
Building on his success, William created two graduation films in 2010: "Bovine" (2010),a 35mm short film about a young boy on a farm that screened at the Berlinale Film Festival, and "The Little" (2010),a dark fantasy about a man and a snail that won the Coca-Cola Cinemagic Innovation Award and screened at numerous festivals worldwide.
After graduation, William signed with Independent Talent for representation in film and television.
In 2011, William participated in the London Sci-Fi 48-hour film challenge, creating the short film "No Escape" (2011),which resulted in his signing with The Mill [gb] as a commercials director.
Fast-forward to 2018, William signed with CAA following the world premiere of his debut feature film, "Gwen" (2018),at the Toronto International Film Festival.
