William Tregoe spent a significant period of time in Indianapolis, Indiana, where he held the esteemed position of director at the Avondale Playhouse, a tent theatre situated in the parking lot of The Meadows Shopping Center.
Not only did he direct numerous productions, but he also took on acting roles in some of the performances, showcasing his versatility as a performer and director.
One of his most notable accomplishments during his 7th season at Avondale was directing a production of Noel Coward's "Present Laughter" featuring Frances Farmer and Reginald Gardiner, which took place from July 26 to July 31, 1960.
Additionally, he appeared alongside Hugh Marlowe in the production of "The Play's The Thing" at the Pasadena Playhouse in 1960.
Tregoe and Stewart Bradley also collaborated on the West Coast premiere of "Rashomon" at the ABC Playhouse, which was subsequently renamed the BradTree Theater in their honor, in the spring of 1960.
