Person Biography:
Deprez pursued a degree in political and social sciences, as well as a license in comparative cultural studies. Following this, he attended the conservatory to study drama.
He gained significant recognition in Flanders as a panelist on the Canvas program "De Rechtvaardige Rechters". In 2002, he wrote the theatrical text "De weliswaar lichtelijk ongelooflijke doch volledig waargebeurde historie van Verlorenbrood" to commemorate the 700th anniversary of the Guldensporenslag.
In 2003, he won Humo's Comedy Cup, and in 2005, he took home the title in the television quiz "De Slimste Mens ter Wereld" hosted by Erik Van Looy. The previous winners of this quiz were Alain Grootaers, Stany Crets, and Bert Kruismans.
Deprez cites Woody Allen, Alex Agnew, Hans Teeuwen, Wim Helsen, Neveneffecten, Jacques Brel, and Johnny Cash as his major influences. He has also written adaptations in West Flemish of Brel's "Ne me quitte pas" ("Meug nie weggoan nie") and Cash's "A boy named Sue" ("Ne jongne genoamd An").
