Yassin Koptan, a multifaceted individual from Alexandria, Egypt, embarked on his creative journey by obtaining a Bachelor's degree in Filmmaking.
As a professional, Yassin has successfully guided stories into acclaimed festivals, including the Austin Film Festival and the SF Indie Fest.
In addition to his filmmaking pursuits, Yassin holds a unique distinction as one of the first skateboarders in Egypt. He began skateboarding at the tender age of 11 and soon developed a passion for capturing his skateboarding tricks on film.
Equipped with a handy-cam and basic editing software, Yassin compiled montages of his skateboarding sessions, showcasing his skills to the world. His talent did not go unnoticed, and he was soon sponsored by Skateimpact.com, representing Dwindle Distribution brands such as Enjoi Skateboards and Etnies Shoes.
At the age of 16, Yassin's acting experience led him to pursue filmmaking in Los Angeles, where he attended the New York Film Academy to pursue his BFA.
Currently, Yassin works as a director, editor, and writer in both Los Angeles and Egypt. His dedication to his craft has earned him several prestigious nominations and awards, including an Audience Award nomination for Best Student Narrative at the Austin Film Festival 2016 and a win for Best Student Film at the Short to the Point Film Festival 2016.
