Biography

Yoshihiro Katō, a pioneering artist of remarkable talent, was born in the year 1936 and went on to live a life marked by creative expression until his passing in 2018. Alongside Shinichi Iwata, Katō co-founded the groundbreaking avant-garde arts collective Zero Jigen, also known as Zero Dimension, in the early 1960s.

This innovative group, comprising Katō and Iwata, embarked upon a series of extraordinary performances, dubbed "Rituals," which were staged over an extended period of time. The first of these events, titled "Haitsukubari kōshin" or "Crawling Procession," took place in January 1963 within the vibrant Sakae district of Nagoya.
