As a member of a musically affluent Tamil family, Yuvan Shankar Raja is the third and youngest child of the legendary musician and film composer Ilaiyaraaja and his wife Jeeva. He is the younger brother of music director Karthik Raja and playback singer-cum-music director Bhavatharini. Interestingly, his father as well as his siblings have sung many songs under his direction, demonstrating the strong musical bond within the family.
After an initial struggle, Yuvan Shankar Raja made his big break with the Thulluvadho Ilamai soundtrack in 2001, and by the mid-2000s, he had evolved into one of Tamil cinema's most sought-after composers.
