Yvonne Lime, daughter of a music teacher, was encouraged to pursue acting from a young age. She attended the prestigious Pasadena Playhouse, where she caught the attention of an agent who landed her a recurring role on the popular TV show Father Knows Best in 1954.
As a blonde actress, Lime went on to appear in numerous television shows and films during the 1950s, including the Elvis Presley movie Loving You in 1957 and the horror film I Was a Teenage Werewolf, in which she co-starred alongside Michael Landon.
In her personal life, Lime married TV producer Don Fedderson, who was responsible for hit shows such as The Millionaire, My Three Sons, and Family Affair. Lime eventually retired from acting to focus on her charitable work.
One of the most significant and rewarding aspects of Lime's life was her dedication to helping others. During her time entertaining U.S. troops in Japan in the 1950s, she and her friend Sara O'Meara became aware of the plight of orphans and took the first steps towards founding International Orphans Inc.
The organization, which was later renamed Childhelp USA, went on to build and maintain four orphanages in Japan, as well as five orphanages, a hospital, and a school in Vietnam. Lime and O'Meara eventually redirected their efforts towards helping abused and neglected children in the United States.
