In feudal Japan, a ruthless lord named Naritsugu Matsudaira threatens the peace, earning the ire of the shogun's advisor, Sir Doi. After a tragic event, Sir Doi tasks samurai Shinzaemon Shimada with avenging the death of Makino Uneme's family, who were brutally murdered by Naritsugu. Shinza vows to kill Naritsugu and assembles a team of 12 samurai to ambush him on his return journey to Akashi.
