A group of college-age friends, led by Denny Roberts, try to get rid of his younger brother Joe by convincing him that he's friends with billionaire Howard Hughes. Joe, eager to meet his idol, spends his summer earnings on a plane ticket to Las Vegas, where he surprisingly meets Hughes and forms a genuine friendship.
