In 1876, Spain, the Third Carlist War rages on. A young girl, an orphan, is rescued by a mysterious woman who turns her into a vampire. The girl, renamed Amaia, is taken under the woman's wing and learns to survive as a vampire. Over the years, Amaia develops a sense of humanity and forms connections with a boy named Miguel. However, her vampiric instincts threaten to destroy her relationships and she is forced to flee with her adoptive father, Cándido. After 50 years, Cándido passes away, leaving Amaia alone and desperate for a cure to her immortality. The Spanish Civil War breaks out, and Amaia, now an old woman, meets a mature Miguel and a familiar figure from her past - her vampire mother.
