Almost Married

The wealthy young man enters into a marriage of convenience with a sultry nightclub performer to avoid a financially burdensome lawsuit.

In the city of New York, Gloria Dobson struggles to become a nightclub singer due to her lack of fame. Her fortunes change when her trunk is mistakenly delivered to the home of socialite James Manning III, who is being pressured by his wealthy aunt to marry Louella Marvin. Jimmy and his butler devise a plan to introduce Gloria as his "secret bride" to his aunt, which makes headlines and prompts his lawyers to advise him to marry Gloria and then divorce her. Despite initially wanting a divorce, Gloria discovers she has fallen in love with Jimmy. However, she becomes humiliated when he tries to ruin her chances of gaining recognition as a singer. In response, she heads to Reno to get a divorce, but Jimmy eventually realizes his love for her and chases after her on a Reno-bound train.
