Barefoot Boy background

Barefoot Boy

The film, inspired by a John Greenleaf Whittier poem, follows the life of Kenneth Hale, a wealthy and indulgent individual, diverging from its literary roots.

A pampered young boy named Kenneth Hale is sent to live on a country farm with his father's friend, Calvin Whittaker, after his father is released from prison for a crime he didn't commit. There, Kenneth gets involved with a group of crooks and a haunted house, and learns valuable lessons about honesty and integrity from Billy Whittaker and his girlfriend, Pige Bennett.
