When Jacques, the husband of Sandra, takes his own life, she turns to her brother Marco, a tanker captain, for help. Marco returns to Paris to find that the shoe factory his father left them is bankrupt, and Sandra is struggling to pay off debts. He also discovers that his niece Justine has serious addiction issues and may need surgery to repair damage from past abuse.
