Steve Taylor, a troubled gambler, is forced to face the consequences of killing a cheating poker player in self-defense. Despite his fiancée's financial support, Steve's addiction has taken a toll, and his brother Tim convinces him to turn himself in. However, the trial is tainted when a key witness, saloon girl Flora Trigby, flees to Mexico, and Steve is found guilty. The brothers go into hiding, but their plans are complicated when Tim returns with Flora and discovers that someone matching Steve's description has committed a new crime, further complicating their situation.
