The Cheyenne tribe, struggling to survive in their desert reserve, decides to embark on a 1,500-mile journey back to their ancestral hunting grounds after the government fails to provide promised supplies. A US Cavalry captain, Thomas Archer, is tasked with retrieving the tribe, but instead finds himself respecting their bravery and decides to aid them.
