Chouchou background

Chouchou

A captivating North African immigrant embarks on a journey through the vibrant streets of Paris, seeking love and success while embracing his distinct worldview.

Chouchou, a scatty and unworldly North African, arrives in Paris and tries to get a bed for the night by spinning an implausible line about being a refugee from Chilean dictator Pinochet. He finds a job as a receptionist and cleaner at a psychoanalyst's office, where he reveals his desire to be a woman. The doctor agrees, and Chouchou begins working as a woman, Mlle Chouchou, but his transition is put to the test when a violent police inspector, Gregoire, comes to the office. Chouchou uses amateur psychoanalysis to try to calm Gregoire, but it backfires, and the inspector becomes even angrier. Chouchou escapes violence and finds himself in the red light district, where he bumps into his cousin, who works as a drag queen. Chouchou starts working at the Apocalypse bar and catches the eye of a wealthy customer, Stanislas. As Chouchou continues to navigate his new life as a woman, he must also evade Dr. Milovavich, who is furious about the broken vase, and Gregoire, who is still seeking revenge.
