Georgia Bright, a special education teacher, is torn between a safe and predictable life in Indiana and a more uncertain path teaching special education around the world. She spends Christmas in London with her sister Lizzie and her boyfriend Henry, where she meets Graham Savoy, Henry's older half-brother and a famous footballer.
