In 1949, broke and still arrogant, film star Emery Slade is enlisted by a Fox producer to convince Broadway star Rosalie Brooks to star in the film "Bandwagon". However, after meeting Julie Clarke, his assistant's former girlfriend, Slade decides she should play the lead instead. His motives for this seemingly selfless act remain unclear, but he still has a few tricks up his sleeve.
