The Burkes face a drastic change in their lives when they lose their jobs in New York and relocate to Arizona, where Tom takes a management position at a children's clothing company. However, their new boss, Sirus Lovelin, has traditional American family values and assumes Amanda is a housewife and mother, unaware that they're actually childless. To avoid offending him, they "adopt" two street kids, who turn out to be clever but also rude and mischievous, leading the Burkes into a tangled web of lies as they struggle to extricate themselves.
