A talented high school student, Matt Jannett, is on track to receive a college diving scholarship, but the intense pressure from his police officer father is taking a toll on him. One night, Matt and his friends decide to go swimming drunk, and Matt takes off with his girlfriend Rachel, leaving the others behind.
