A rookie pilot, Alan Drake, joins the elite Hellcats Squadron after flight school, but his arrival is marred by a botched landing due to fog. He struggles in his first mission, losing an air combat competition due to poor shooting. Despite his teammates' initial acceptance, he becomes an outcast when they mistakenly believe he had an affair with their CO's wife.
