A troubled young actor, Carl, leaves his East London Theatre Company for the homeless after a violent altercation on opening night. He meets a wealthy woman, Meredith, while wandering the streets, and they start a romance. However, when Meredith invites Carl to see the play he's starring in, he's torn between his newfound love and his parole obligations.
