In the Heian Period, Lord Kiyomori's Castle Sanjo is invaded by rival lords, prompting loyal samurai Moritoh Enda to devise a plan with court lady Kesa to create a diversion while the lord's family flees. Moritoh fights off the invaders and is rewarded by Lord Kiyomori, who grants his wish to marry Kesa. However, Kesa is already married to samurai Wataru Watanabe, leading to a tragic outcome.
