Popeye's peaceful spinach planting is disrupted when his baby plants begin to vanish. He discovers a mischievous gopher responsible for the theft and engages in a fierce battle. After a tussle, Popeye becomes frustrated and fetches his shotgun, only to decide against shooting the gopher. Instead, he abandons his gun and inadvertently hits a bull, which then charges at him. The gopher, who has been snacking on spinach, uses the bull to send it tumbling into a ravine. Surprisingly, the unlikely duo joins forces to plant more spinach.
