Poet, a San Francisco area gas station attendant and motorcyclist, stands up for himself when provoked. Despite a fight with Buddy, the Hells Angels leader, Poet is drawn to the club's camaraderie, motorcycles, and free love. He enters a relationship with Shill, considered Buddy's girlfriend, and becomes deeply involved with the club. However, he soon discovers that the club's ethics clash with his own.
