After World War II, a northern cannery seeks to purchase a large plot of land in Georgia. The majority of the land belongs to Julie Warren, who has already agreed to sell to her husband Henry, despite his questionable ethics. However, the company must also acquire two smaller plots, one owned by Henry's cousin Rad McDowell and the other by Reeve Scott, a young black man with a personal connection to Julie. Rad and Reeve refuse to sell, instead teaming up to improve their land. Henry remains committed to pushing through the deal, despite the challenges.
