In this film, a spirited young woman named Ossi Oswalda is a constant source of frustration for her uncle and governess, who disapprove of her love of poker, smoking, and talking to strange men. When her uncle leaves, Ossi hopes to finally have the freedom she's been craving, but her new guardian, Dr. Kersten, is strict and unyielding. Feeling trapped, Ossi decides to sneak out and experience the city as a man, but soon discovers that being a man has its own set of challenges and disadvantages.
