Jazz Ramsey, a skilled search and rescue expert, runs Ramsey's K-9 Institute and trains dogs for first response. She's invited to Astor Academy, her alma mater, to give a demonstration with her dog Zeus. During the event, Zeus discovers a dead body, which they identify as Bernadette Quinn, a former teacher who was forced to resign after a parent accused her of having an unhealthy fixation on his daughter. The investigation is led by Jazz's ex-boyfriend, Police Detective Nick Kolesov.
